Thunderclap 5E Spell

Hello magic casters of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 40th episode of our cantrip series. Today we’re taking a look at dnd 5e thunderclap spell usable by the bard, druid, sorcerer, warlock and the wizard and naturally through extension anyone else with access to their spellcasting lists. And it is found in the elemental evil players companion as are many of our favorite cantrips. The mechanics are as followed.

  • Damage: 1st:1d6, 5th:2d6, 11th:3d6, 17th: 4d6
  • Casting Time: 1 Action
  • Range: 5ft
  • Duration: Instantaneous
  • Saving throw: Con
  • Components: Somatic
  • School: Evocation
  • Damage Type: Thunder

For your damage you’re gonna be looking up at die six so not great but not bad either. I starting out at one at first level and getting an additional one at 5th, 11th and 17th level for a grand total of 4d6. The cast time as with most spells is one action, the range is a modest quite feeble 5 feet. The duration is instantaneous, the saving throw is constitution, the components are somatic, the school is evocation and the damage type unsurprisingly is thunder. Now let’s take a look at the full description so you can really get a feel for the flavour behind this spell as well as just to make sure we’re on the same page in regards to it.

In this dnd 5e Thunderclap Spell you do create a burst of thunderous sound, which can able to be heard even 100 feet away. Each and every creature but other than you within 5 feet of you should make a Constitution saving throw. It also takes the damage on the failed save, actually the creature takes 1d6 thunder damage.

At Higher Levels:

Actually, the d&d 5e spell Thunderclap damage would be increase by 1d6 whenever you reach 5th level the damage is 2d6, 11th level (3d6) and at 17th level (4d6).

So great, i mean just wow! Thematically amazing spell which is just absolutely terrifying in the right hands and in the right situation. That being said! let’s take a look at some alternative uses here.

Alternative Uses

Here the best one that i can think of is taking advantage of that 100 feet of sound to really alert our party members or NPCs that something’s going down or even to serve as a signal for a particular event or pre-thought of plan. Great spell, tons of flavour and just fun to use.

That being said! If you have any alternative uses or have any crazy stories involving thunderclap i’d really like to hear it down in the comments below and as would everyone else checking in. With that in mind thank you so much guys and as always have a great day and happy casting.
