This spell usually transforms the creature with almost 1 hit point which you can see within a range into the new form. However here an unwilling creature should make a wisdom saving throw in order to avoiding the effect. Of course here a shapechanger shall automatically succeeds on this saving throw.
Of course here the transformation may be lasts for a particular duration, or else until the target would drop to minimum of zero hit points or even dies. So the new form could be any type of beast those whose challenge rating is equal to or less than to the target’s (or the target’s level, when it doesn’t have a challenge rating).
Mainly here the target’s game statistics, which include mental ability score, those are replaced by the statistics of a selected beast. In any case this shall retain its alignment and the personality. Perhaps the target assumes the hit points of its new form. Whenever it reverts to its original form, mainly here the creature returns to its number of hit points that it had before it was transformed.
Even though if it reverts like a result of dropping to zero hit points, but if its any excess damage carries over to its normal form. Of course as long as an excess damage doesn’t reduce the creature’s normal form to the zero hit points, then it isn’t knocked unconscious.
Of course, the creature is always limited in the actions that it can perform by the nature of its new form, and also it can’t speak, cast spells, or even take any other action that requires hands or speech. Here the target’s gear shall meld into a new form. Probably the creature can’t activate, use, wield, or else benefit from any of its equipment too.
