Poison Spray 5E Spell

Hello magic practitioners of all shapes and sizes. Thank you for checking out the 26th episode of our cantrip series, today we’re going to be taking a look at dnd 5e poison spray spell of the nauseous cloud cantrip usable by quite a few of the classes the Druid, Sorcerer, Warlock and Wizard and of course through extension anyone else with access to their spell lists and this cantrip is found in the players handbook. If you’ve missed our other spells and you would like to check them then please proceed with this link. Now let’s take a quick look at some of the mechanics here.

Mechanics

  • Level: Cantrip
  • Casting Time: 1 Action
  • Range/Area: 10 ft
  • Components: V, S
  • Duration: Instantaneous
  • School: Conjuration
  • Attack/Save: CON Save
  • Damage/Effect: Poison

Starting at first level your damage die is a d12 which is very nice. You get an additional d12 at 5th, 11th and 17th level for a grand total of 4d12. The cast time is one action, the range is a measly 10 feet, the duration is instantaneous, the saving throw is constitution.

The components are somatic and verbal meaning you have to gesture with one of your hands as well as speak forth the incantation. The school is conjuration and the damage type is poison. Now let’s take a look at the full description here so we’re all on the same page.

Description

As a Poison Spray 5E spell you do extend your hand toward one creature which you can able to see within a range and also project a puff of noxious gas from your palm. So the creature should succeed on a Constitution saving throw or take 1d12 poison damage.

At Higher Levels:

Actually, this d&d 5e Poison Spray spell damage would actually increase by 1d12 whenever you reach at 5th level (2d12), 11th level (3d12), 17th level (4d12).

So, in terms of how effective this cantrip is in all honesty it’s not super mostly because poison damage almost everything has resistance to it if not immunity is there. I don’t think there’s any monster in all honesty that is very effective by poison or as weak poison rather it’s a very common in resistance. In any case thematically very cool. Let’s take a look at some alternative uses here.

Alternative Uses

The only one i could really think of it would be pest control in all honesty. That be about it. I mean if you were playing a chaotic evil character that was modeled after the joker, i think this could be a pretty fun spell to play along with. Outside of that i can’t really think of too much.

Conclusion

That being said, if you guys have any ideas so please feel free to comment down below i really appreciate it and i know everyone else checking out this article does well. With that in mind, i’d like to wish everyone happy casting and i hope you all have a great day.
