Frostbite DnD Spell

Hello Magic practitioners of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my dndtopics website and thank you for choosing our website and supporting of our cantrip series. Let’s take a look at frostbite dnd 5e spell now. That’s interesting little gem is usable by the druid, sorcerer, warlock and wizard and of course through extension anyone else with access to their spell lists. It is found in the Elemental Evil Player’s Companion which is a pretty decent read, lots of spells in that. Let’s take a quick look at some mechanics here. In any case if you would like to see our dnd 5e spells list full page you can check that from here.

  • Level: Cantrip
  • Casting Time: 1 Action
  • Range/Area: 60 ft
  • Components: V, S
  • Duration: Instantaneous
  • School: Evocation
  • Attack/Save: CON Save
  • Damage/Effect: Cold

Here your damage die will give d6 starting with one and going up at 5th, 11th and 17th level or a capstone of 4d6. The cast time is one action, the range is 60 feet which is fairly modest. The duration is instantaneous, the saving throw is Constitution saving throw, the components are somatic and verbal meaning you have to gesture with your hands and actually vocalize the spells bow. The school is Evocation and a damage type is unsurprisingly cold damage. Now let’s quick look at the description here.

Normally, the frostbite is one of the decent cantrips, decent damage types, under an average damage but of course it has a nice effect too. So that we can say this spell is good to have if you are also have a d10 (or d8) damage cantrip.

Being a Frostbite DnD you make to cause numbing frost to form on one of the creatures which you can see within a range. Of course in this dnd spell the target should make the Constitution saving throw. But on a failed save, the target normally takes 1d6 cold damage, and it has disadvantage on a next weapon attack roll which it makes before the end of its next turn.

At Higher Levels:

Actually, this d&d Frostbite spell’s damage increases by 1d6. As per this criteria whenever you reach 5th level the damage increases by 2d6, at 11th level (3d6) and at 17th level (4d6).

Alright a couple things to look at there. So first and foremost constitution save very good at dealing with casters, i’d imagine. Very poor at dealing with most mob type enemies though. If d6 isn’t huge damage die either and the disadvantage of the next weapon tag is nice but circumstantially the spell could be pretty useful i suppose. A nice feature about it is it’s not like array or anything like that there is no real way to pinpoint the origin of the spell. It’s in like a crowded area for example if your head we can see all day the frost is kind of forms over that creature.

let’s take a quick look at some alternative uses here

Alternative Uses

The only one i could really think of was to take advantage of fact that it can only be applied to the creatures and through extension you could essentially use it to check for minutes. Outside of that i can’t really think of a whole lot of non combat related uses for this.
