Earth Tremor 5E Spell

Hello magic casters of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the 30th episode of our first level spell series. Today we’re going to be taking a look at dnd 5e earth tremor spell this is a particularly interesting and cool one. It is usable by the bard, druid, sorcerer and wizard and it is found in the elemental evil players companion. With that out of the way let’s take a look at the mechanics and break it down a little bit.


  • Casting Time: 1 Action
  • Range: 10ft
  • Duration: Instantaneous
  • At higher Levels: Add 1d6 per spell slot above 1st
  • Components: Verbal and Somatic
  • School: Evocation

So your cast time is the standard one action, the range is 10 from self. So form is kind of a 10 foot radius. The duration is instantaneous. At higher levels you add one die six per spell slot level above first. The components are verbal and somatic meaning you have to gesture with one hand and speak forth incantation and the school unsurprisingly is evocation. Please do check our longstrider 5e.

The effect at a glance is as followed: Cause a tremor, creatures make a dex saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 1d6 bludgeoning damage and is knocked prone. The ground in the area becomes difficult terrain; 5ft can be cleared every 1 minute. Very cool stuff, let’s take a look at the full description so aware of the wording and why it is that way. As a d&d 5e Earth Tremor spell you do cause a tremor in a ground in a 10-foot radius. Each and every creature but other than you in that specific area must make a Dexterity saving throw. Any how on a failed save, a creature would take 1d6 bludgeoning damage and it has been knocked prone. Suppose, the ground in that specific area is loose the earth or stone, it will become difficult terrain until cleared. With each five foot diameter portion requiring at least 1 minute to be cleared by hand.

At Higher Levels:

Whenever you cast this spell by using the spell slot of 2nd level or higher, also the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot above the 1st level. In any case you may also interested in 5e snare.

Wow..really interesting stuff and really cool from a thematic point of view. This is kind of gandalf’s hole you shall not pass deal but on a little bit of a larger scale and with the ability to directly effect enemies as opposed to just structures. Alternative Uses

One of the most obvious ones is the ability to prevent a NPC or enemy from running away by utilizing that knocked prone feature. Very cool stuff, alternatively this would be a great way to deal with large groups of people as well and now that i’m actually doing the recording for this i think it would also be incredibly interesting to use this to potentially collapse a building or other structure.
