You do whisper a discordant melody which only one creature of your selection within a specific range able to hear, wracking it by terrible pain. So in this spell the target should make a wisdom saving throw. Basically, it takes 3d6 psychic damage on a failed save and must be immediately use its reaction, if available, if it is available, to move as far as its speed allows away from you.
Actually, the creature does not move into an obviously dangerous ground, like a fir or a pit. On a successful save, the target can take half as much damage and also does not take a move away. Normally, a deafened creature automatically can succeed on the save.
At Higher Levels:
Whenever you cast this spell by using the spell slot of 2nd level or higher then the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot above the 1st level.
