Catapult DnD 5E Spell

I gotta ask you a question! have you ever wanted to be gamburg from the exman if the answer is yes and i know what is cause we already cool sets in characters you’re gonna love this spell.

May i introduce to you dnd 5e catapult spell  usable by the sorcerer, wizard and the artificer and of course through extension anyone else can access with their spell lists and it is found in the ever popular elemental evil players companion. Let’s take a look at some mechanics here.

Mechanics

  • Level: 1
  • Damage: 3d8+1d8 for each slot level above 1st
  • Casting Time: 1 Action
  • Range/Area: 60 ft
  • Components: S
  • Duration: Instantaneous
  • School: Transmutation
  • Attack/Save: DEX Save
  • Damage/Effect: Bludgeoning

Your damage is an impressive 3d8 plus an additional d8 per each spell slot level above first. The cast time is one action, the range is interestingly worded sixty feet. The duration is instantaneous, the saving throw is dexterity, the components are just somatic meaning you just have to be able gesture with one of those hands to make this effect possible.

The school is transmutation and the damage type is bludgeoning. Although i feel like you the damage type depends on what it is  you’re using but that something for your DM to discuss not for me to deal with. Let us check out the full description so we know exactly what we’re talking about.

Description

In this Catapult DnD 5E Spell you have to select an object weighing 1 to 5 pounds which are within a specific range which is not being worn or else to be carried. The object can files within a straight line up to 90 feet in a particular direction that you can select before you’re falling to the ground, but by stopping early if it is impact which is against to a solid surface.

Suppose, the object would be strike to a creature, where the creature must make a dexterity saving throw. So, on a failed save, that object can strike the target and also it stops moving. In an either case and also both the objects, the creature or else the solid surface can take 3d8 bludgeoning damage.

At Higher Levels: Whenever you make to cast this spell by using the spell slot of 2nd level or higher, then the maximum weight of various objects which you able to target by a spell increases by the 5 pounds, and also the damage would increases by 1d8, for each of the slot above the 1st level.

Wow that is a mouthful my goodness! So there’s lot to unpack there. First and foremost i’d like to point out that you can technically change distance gather together upto 120 feet. I think that’s very cool. Simply because you choose the object that is in within the range is 150ft which makes one of the longest range spells out there.

Without modifying of course. So take an object that 60ft away. Cast the spell that goes in an additional 90 feet so that’s a total of 150 feet. Which is very substantial non-other than what she thinking about it. That would clear most maps for sure. It doesn’t specify the object and that’s why i think bludgeoning.

There’s nothing stopping you from using dagger for example. And not would be slashing or piercing damage depending on how you really want to work at it. You can increase the weight by five pounds so i just think its a ton of versatility here. If you really want it to burn high level spell slot to bloath a door or launch a door across the room i think that’d be incredible. It’s very neat, very cool flavorwise. That being said, let’s take a look at some alternative uses here of which there quite a few.

Alternative Uses

I think the best or one of the more creative ways of using this spell would be to essentially use it to deliver messages. I mean that’s one way to do it. Whether the messages are piece of paper or rock you sending through buildings i think that’d be pretty cool. Something else that i’d like to point out is due to the huge range of objects you could pick, you could pick as pretty cool stuff for example sim sim keys to your companion cell from all way across the other end of the jail.

You can use it to quickly get rid off huge amounts of gold coins, gems or whatever flavor from a bank robbery. You could even use it on a flask of alchemist fire. That’s launching into your opponent from a great distances dealing extra damage in the process and one of the coolest alternative uses i’ve ever heard of is using in our grappling hox to be able to climb ridiculously high cliffs or buildings were have you. So cool, i have this spell with my arcane tripster, i haven’t had a chance to use it any crazy to create. But i’m going to definitely start .

Conclusion
