As per this Bones of the Earth 5E Spell you’re the cause up to six pillars of a stone for bursting from the places on a ground which you could see within a specific range. Each and every pillar is a cylinder which has the diameter of 5 feet and also one of the height of up to 30 feet. Of course the ground where the pillar is appearing should be wide enough for the sake of its diameter, and even you can target a ground under the creature if such creature is a medium or smaller.
