Hello magic casters of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the second episode of our third level spell series. Today we’re looking at a relatively cool one i haven’t seen a lot of calvin’s take this to be quite fair but we’re looking at dnd 5e aura of vitality it is found on the paladin spells list and it is found in the good old players handbook.
I haven’t seen this one chosen a whole lot, i have a couple reasons as to why paladins aren’t really the biggest casters outside of smite. So i don’t know let me know what you guys think after the article. In any case let’s take a quick look at its mechanics here soon we’re talking about.
- Casting Time: 1 Action
- Range: Self (30ft radius)
- Duration: 1 minute (Concentration)
- Components: Verbal
- School: Evocation
The effect at a glance is as followed: Use a bonus action to heal one creature in the area 2d6. The cast time is one action, the range is self but the radius man is an impressive 30 feet. The duration is one minute and it is concentration. The components are verbal and the school is evocation. Very good stuff. Now let’s take a look at the full description here and just break it down a little bit.
As per this Aura Of Vitality 5e Spell the healing energy would radiate from you in an aura with a distant of 30-foot radius. But until the end of this spell the aura will move with you and also centered on you. To cause one creature in the aura (you also includes) to regain 2d6 hit points you can easily use a bonus action.
Check out watery sphere spell 5e
Very cool stuff! I really like the direction they went with this. I really do wish it could be up casted but you know past this point the paladin’s just to rely on their lay on hands a little bit more, the hit pool just gets a little bit bigger so.
I know it’s interesting, i can think of a couple uses for it off the top of my head but it’s just it’s weird because it’s concentration so there’s potential for a fail but providing healing to yourself now and allies is certainly never a bad thing. I think this is a good way to kind of cover for the claire if stuff gets really rough but i don’t know let’s get into some alternative uses now.
So, one of the ones i really like is using this to fuel NPCs. Especially i would have combat this is pretty fantastic you can essentially feel up to ten of them 2d6 which is pretty good for most like commoner stab logs or NPCs so i really like that through that extension it’s a great way of gaining favor with people, people will never resist and being healed and because this doesn’t aesthetically seem like active healing it’s faith-based healing.
I’m sure you’ll be able to sway some people to your religion if that is your ultimate goal. Outside of that this is a great way of assisting classes if they’re punching up in terms of their combat prowess. It’s just a great way to loan survivability to fellow comrades. Being a paladin your survivability is already pretty good. But there are gonna be some foes you’re facing or it’s not quite good enough and this is a great spell in terms of covering that gap. As long as you can maintain that concentration of course.
