Hello zoologists of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for clicked on the 23rd episode of our beast series. We got a very cool one in store for us today and so far as to say it is the second kinda aquatic based cr0 beast we’ve covered so far. The first being the octopus of course, i don’t think these guys would get along too well. But who knows in your world they might good. Today we’re gonna take be taking a look at the quipper dnd 5e monster. This basically piranha is found in just the basic rules set. It’s actually a familiar option as well. So it’s found in the players handbooks if you want to check it out there you certainly can and it’s considered to be cr0 that is so far as to say. It’s very easy to defeat them at least when they’re alone and they provide 10 experience points should you kill one. That being said let’s take a quick look at its mechanics here and just break them down a little bit further.
Basically, the Quipper dnd 5e monster is the carnivorous fish with the sharp teeth. Of course the Quippers able to adapt to any type of aquatic Environment, By including the cold subterranean lakes. Probably they do thoroughly collect together in swarms; the statistics for the sake of a swarm of quippers would appear after in this appendix.
So, the dnd 5e quipper monster is considered to be a tiny beast and it is unaligned like the most beasts out there. Taking a look at its stats you’ll notice an AC of 13 which is a little bit higher than usual which is nice. Hit point of one which is calculated by rolling a d4 and subtracting one. A zero movement speed, about 40 swim speed. So needless to say you can’t move on land. It doesn’t have any appendages to do so.
- Type: Tiny Beast, Unaligned
- AC: 13
- HP: 1(1d4-1)
- Speed: 0ft, Swim 40ft
Taking a look at his stats real quick. You’ll notice he’s incredibly a dexterous. However he’s a very weak incredibly dumb and in no wheel shape or form charismatic.
- STR: 2(-4)
- DEX: 16(+3)
- CON: 9(-1)
- INT: 1(-5)
- WIS: 7(-2)
- CHA: 2(-4)
Looking at his senses you’ll see 60 feet of darkvision which is great. And a passive perception of 8 which leaves a lot to be desired.
He also comes equipped with the blood frenzy ability which grant some advantage on melee attack rolls against any creature which doesn’t have all of its hit points. Which is a very handy skill to have.
Blood Frenzy: The quipper has an advantage on the melee Attack rolls which are against to any creature that doesn’t have all its Hit Points.
And it also comes equipped with water breathing naturally can only breathe underwater the swim speed was kind of giveway to this one but whatever still got a report on it.
Water Breathing: The quipper able to breathe only Underwater.
Now let’s take a quick look at actions here. The quipper has only one action as do the vast majority of beats as cr0 and it’s a bite attack. So it’s considered to be a melee weapon attack +5 to hit which is great. Reach of 5ft which makes sense because melee. It only target one target and deals one piercing damage on a hit. Very good stuff.
Bite: By using the bite attack this monster can make a Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1 piercing damage.
Traditionally quippers live in lakes and shallow waters very similar to that so lakes, ponds maybe streams things of that nature and they’re basically piranhas so assume there’s gonna be a large amount of them nearby. Outside of that a adventuring party might be able to catch them in a stream they can be quite deadly in large numbers so feel fee to use that however you want. I think they can be be used to much the same effect as the octopus can and the way that it is a great creature in terms of getting players used to underwater combat. So it’s pretty good.
