Giant Badger 5E Monster

Hello zoologists of all shapes and sizes! welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much clicked on to the 56th episode of our beast series. Today we’re going to be taking a look at the less exciting badger variant the giant badger 5e monster, it is found in the basic rule set and it is considered to be a cr: 1/4 (50xp) monster, providing 50 experience points on the kill.

This is actually the third badger we’re covering. The first of course being the primary badger which is considered to be cr:0 and then we covered to the cave badger a little bit earlier within the cr:1/4 series. Overall i really do like the idea of a early level adventuring party dealing with badgers but i’ll leave that up to you. That being said though let’s quickly check out his stats.

Stats

So the 5e giant badger is considered to be a medium beast that is unaligned. It comes equipped with an armor class of 10, it has 13 hit points..it is calculated by rolling 2d8 and adding 4, it has a movement speed of 30ft and a burrow speed of 10 feet. Very cool stuff.

  • Type: Medium Beast, Unaligned
  • AC: 10
  • HP: 13(2d8+4)
  • Speed: 30ft, Burrow 10ft

Taking a look at the stats, you’ll notice has a little bit of strength, a little bit of constitution and his wise as well. Outside of that nothing really to brag about.

  • STR: 13(+1)
  • DEX: 10(+0)
  • CON: 15(+2)
  • INT: 2(-4)
  • WIS: 12(+1)
  • CHA: 5(-3)

Taking a look at his senses though, you do see 30 feet of dark vision and a passive perception of 11 which is quite nice. He also has access to the keen smell trait which gives an advantage on perception checks that rely on smell.

Traits Of 5E Giant Badger

Keen Smell: With this trait the 5e giant badger has an advantage on the wisdom (perception) checks which rely on the smell. Now let’s quickly take a look at its actions here.

Actions Of D&D Giant Badger

The giant badger much like the cave badger. It actually has two actions and they are pretty much identical.

Multiattack: So the d&d giant badger has multiattacks, you can make two attacks: such as one with its bite and another one with its claws attack.

Bite: With this bite attack it can make Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., it targets one target. and deals for piercing damage on a hit calculated by rolling 1d6 and adding a modifier of 1  Hit: 4 (1d6 + 1).

Claws: The claw attack also melee weapon attack, also +3 to hit, reach of 5 feet as well, one target too. However the damage is a little bit different, it is six slashing damage calculated by rolling 2d4 and adding one. (Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Also Hit: 6 (2d4 + 1) slashing damage).

Very cool stuff! i really do like the use of the badgers. I really do prefer the cave badger over the giant badger and i go over that a lot more in the cave badger article.

Would you like to read giant vulture 5e monster too then why late read it also.

That being said! a good mix of these guys surely could not hurt and their bro speed is a great way for them to sneak up on unsuspecting party members. That being said let me know how you would use them in your game and down beneath in the comment section.

Also be sure to mention if you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding the giant badger. Thank you so much i really do appreciate it, have a great day and as always happy researching.
