Hello adventurers of all shapes and sizes. Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for clicked on 34th episode of our feat series. Today we are taking a look at one of the most interesting and customizable feats out there. Today we are taking a look at martial adept feat 5e. This feat is found in the players handbook. In any case so let’s take a full look at the description so you can kind of get what i’m talking about.
First and foremost it’s worth noting there is no prerequisite for this. That’s pretty great meaning anyone if any class can take it and you know what everyone of any class should take a look at it and i’ll explain why. The feat description reads as followed.
Being a martial adept dnd 5e feat you already have martial training which can allow you to perform the special combat maneuvers. You can gain the following benefits.
- You able to learn for maneuvers of your choice from those are available to the Battle Master archetype in a fighter class. Suppose, a maneuver that you do use may requires your specific target to make a saving throw for resist the maneuver’s effects also the saving throw DC equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength or Dexterity modifier (your choice).
- You normally gains a superiority die, which is a D6 (this die is added to any superiority dice you have from another source). Of course this die is used for the fuel your maneuvers. Even though a superiority die has been extended whenever you use it. You can regain any of your expended superiority dice whenever you do finish a short or else a long rest.
Wow that’s a wordy one. Let’s break that down in just a little bit. So we understand kind of what we’re talking about a little bit more. Would you like to read dragon hide 5e feat then proceed with this link.
So, first and foremost you learn two maneuvers of your choice from among those available to the battle master archetype in the fighter class and there’s a lot. You got commander strike, disarming attack, distracting strike, envasive footwork, feinting attack, goading attack, lunging attack, maneuvering attack, menacing attack, parry, precision attack, pushing attack, rally, riposte, sweeping attack and trip attack.
Oh my goodness, if there is a saving throw involved you also got to determine your DC by the number 8 + your proficiency bonus plus your strength or Dex mod and that’s your choice and you gain superiority die in this case a die six and you gain that back on a short or long rest. My goodness a lot to unpack there. That being said let’s dive into over my personal thoughts.
I love this one. Honestly i am 100% huge fan of this. This is an incredibly strong feat for almost every build i can consider conceiving. Now naturally as some of them are a little bit better for than others. For example in my opinion the one class that gains the absolute most bang for your buck would actually be the battle master themselves.
An extra two maneuvers at plus an extra superiority die. It is a hugely versatile with them and just because they have so many options they can pull from. A close second-that would probably be the rogue or even in some cases the monk. Reason being they’re both dex based fighters. They also lack some combat flexibility namely the assassin, rogue, the scout rogue and any of the monks that doesn’t specialize in spellcast him.
So this is a great way to add a little bit diversity to your playstyle and just give you some more options moving forward and the fact that it actually technically scales with your level and modifiers make it an even better choice. In terms of which abilities are gonna pick. You know it comes down to play style. That’s why i really like this one. You know there’s a maneuver for just about any type of player out there. So give them all a read.
