Hello adventurers of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to the website and thank you so much for reading 28th episode of our feats series. Today we’re going to be taking a look at the good memory feat. Today we’re gonna be checking out keen mind 5e feat. Found in the players handbook and is probably one of the most useful utility-based feats out there.
Assuming, you’re a individual that is notorious for forgetting things, my goodness this would be a lifesaver for you. With that out of the way let’s take a quick look at the description here, so you know we’re talking about.
It might be worth noting that there is zero prerequisite for this feat which is absolutely perfect. Because it is pretty good for almost every class at least one part of it is and i’ll get to that here in a bit. The description reads as followed:
As a dnd 5e keen mind feat you have an advantageous mind which can track time, direction, and also details with the uncanny precision. You can also gain the following advantages.
- You can increase your Intelligence score by 1, to the maximum of 20.
- You always have knowledge on which way is north.
- You always have knowledge on the number of hours left that before the next sunrise or the sunset.
- Of course, you can accurately recall anything that you have seen or else heard within the past month.
That’s some cool stuff on. let’s take a look at the walkthrough and break that down just a little bit.
The +12 intelligence is pretty obvious what it is, it’s super useful for wizards not really useful for anyone else unless you got a certain build going on and then you get you’re basically turned into a human alarm clock which is super great. Notice that it doesn’t specify whether or not you need to be able to see the sun so even from the underdark you can tell what time and date is on the surface which is super good super useful.
Especially if you want to organise some large-scale invasion plans but timing is essential. You essentially turn into a human compass as well which needless to say has tons of benefits. Especially, if you’re in a confusing maze or anything that nature she’ll be able to find your way with no problem.
And the most important part of this whole feat is the ability to recall up to a month’s worth of memories. Just like that with a snap of your fingers everything you need to know is in your head and ready to be recited verbatim. Now let’s take a look at my personal thoughts on it.
In my opinion, one of the things that makes this whole goddamn good is the ability to recall memories with the past month. Why that is so good is it makes your DM have kind of a deus ex machina if you will.
So if they bring up a plot point and they bring it up very subtly but it is very important and the rest of the party just glazes it over, the dm at a later time can be like you recovered when you heard this statement and for some reason you feel like it might be relevant like it just gives DMs a great way to get the party back on track.
Not to mention it can also work in reverse. You can ask your DM like do i know anything about that because as a person doesn’t but forge is a cleric or as a character would and then they’d have to fill you in. In any case who gains the most from it any spellcasting based class that uses intelligences are modifier but realistically it depends on the individual playing.
That being said guys! if you have any great ideas, character concepts or comments about keen mind please take them down beneath in the comments-section. I love reading them everyone else checking this article does as well. With that out of the way guys have a great day and as always happy casting.
