DnD 5E Feinting Attack

Hello dnd 5e battle master maneuvers of all shapes and sizes! Welcome to my spellbook and thank you so much for checking out the fifth combat maneuver on our website, today we’re going to be taking a look at dnd 5e feinting attack. The ultimate bluff ladies and gentlemen, usable by the battle master class if you haven’t gathered as much already.

Now this is a really cool one once again. Mostly because it can be role played to no end and for that i really like it. With that hyped up intro out of the way let’s take a look at the full description here. It reads as followed.

Description

You can expend a superiority die and even use a bonus action upon your turn to feint, choose a creature within 5 feet of you as your target, you have advantage on your next attack roll against that creature this turn. However if that attack hits, add the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll.

Pretty cool stuff! let’s take a look at the overview and break that down a little bit further.

Overview

Essentially what it breaks down to is “Expending superiority die and a bonus action to feint out a creature than 5 feet. You have advantage on your next attack roll against that creature of this turn should the attack hit add the superiority die to your damage.”

AH man roleplay..i really like this, i think is alike and deal with it. Mechanically i find it to be a little bit underwhelming. Mostly because it uses your bonus action. My problem with that is there’s a lot of classes out there where if you multi class or pick this up as the battle maneuvers 5e feat, you’re not gonna be able to do very much.

So this kind of kills multi classing in a lot of ways which i’m not huge fan of. But if you’re strictly battle master class and you really need to hit something this is one of the better ways to do it. In all honesty whether or not you pick this will depend heavily on your play style and the kind of encounters your dm’s running.

If you’re going up against a lot of high AC target and if you’re constantly within melee range, i think this one makes a lot of sense to at least have in your arsenal.

Conclusion

That being said, i find it to be mechanically a little underwhelming but i mean i might be wrong. If you have any ideas on how to use this more effectively, any cool stories, any comments, concerns or questions, please take it down to the comments below, i really appreciate it guys and as always have a great day and happy adventuring.
